Silicon Valley Restaurant Week Ends Wednesday — And Monterey Bay Restaurant Week Starts Thursday, October 22

Silicon Valley’s first Restaurant Week brought thousands of new customers to nearly 90 restaurants across the valley to enjoy around 800 different menu items.
Tuesday and Wednesdays are the last nights of this year’s Silicon Valley Restaurant Week, so enjoy the last days of great fixed price dining. Restaurant Week will be back next year.
We’ll be at Vin Santo in WIllow Glen for a closing night dinner with councilman Pierluigi Oliverio on Wednesday at 7:30pm. Book a reservation if you’d like to join us. The first 12 people will be seated in the bistro room.

This is the day we’ve been waiting for, the beginning of the tastiest week of the year. Eighty eight restaurants from Los Gatos to San Carlos have special three-course $35 dinner menus this week. Silicon Valley now has its own restaurant week, like cities around the world, so log off and eat this week!
Most of the menus are posted here. Go to the “Restaurants” tab to see the list of participating restaurants, view menus or find a telephone number to book a reservation.
Reservations at many of the restaurants can also be booked online.

Monday: Review the menus, book a reservation online or by phone and RSVP if you plan to attend the kickoff party.
Tuesday: Party at the Plumed Horse!
Wednesday: The first night of Silicon Valley Restaurant Week. Log off and Eat!
Thursday: Pick up a copy of Metro for the Official Guide to Silicon Valley Restaurant Week. Dine out again at a participating restaurant. Post a photo of a dish you liked or of you and friends enjoying Restaurant Week to SVRW’s Facebook page. (Just click the “Photos” tab to post.)
Friday: Pick another great restaurant. There’s only 8 days of $35 fixed-price, three course dinners, so even if you dine out every night of Restaurant Week, you can’t even visit 10 percent of the participants. Be sure to tip well — restaurant staffs are working extra hard this week.

Party at the Plumed Horse

With nearly 90 restaurants participating in the first Silicon Valley Restaurant Week, it’s shaping up to be an exciting week of fixed-price dining at great restaurants from San Carlos to Los Gatos. So to kick off this breakthrough event, we’re inviting fellow foodies and fans to celebrate at the elegant lounge of the celebrated Plumed Horse restaurant in Saratoga on Tuesday, October 13, from 5:30 to 7:30.
We’ll also be raising money for a very important group, Best Buddies International, which improves the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. The suggested donation is only $10 (though feel free to contribute more) and 100% of all money collected at the door will go directly to Best Buddies.
There will be some light food courtesy of the Plumed Horse, a cash bar and lots of fun people to meet and mingle with. Spaces are limited, so be sure to R.S.V.P. to rsvp@svrw.org to ensure that your name’s at the door.

Forty-six restaurants now bookable

Diners who wish to secure a table at their favorite restaurants during restaurant week can book online at more than half of the restaurants now.

Booking links are live for 46 of the more than 75 restaurants that will be offering $35 prix fixe three-course menus during the week of October 14-21.

Diners can now start booking reservations at Silicon Valley Restaurant Week restaurants. It’s a good idea to book early since many restaurants will sell out key time slots during what will undoubtedly be a busy week.

There are two things to keep in mind when accessing the reservation system. Some restaurants don’t provide for online bookings weeks ahead of time, so if a restaurant does not show availability, check back as the date gets closer. And, not all participants have online booking capabilities, so if you want to get a reservation at, say, Calafia or Nick’s on Main, please call the restaurant directly.

If you like a restaurant, don’t wait

It’s no secret that these are tough times in the restaurant industry, and Silicon Valley Restaurant Week’s mission is to call attention to the valley’s culinary excellence and stimulate patronage at local establishments.
This October’s coordinated promotion will provide an opportunity for the community to do so as a collective statement. However consider the benefits of making every week a restaurant week.
“Patronize your special dining spot to ensure it will be there next time,” writes veteran SIlicon Valley journalist Mary Gottschalk in the August issue of Image magazine. “If you keep saving your really favorite restaurant for just a few special occasions a year, it may not be there the next time you call for reservations.”
“Remember Lou’s Village?” she asks. “It’s gone, replaced by a townhouse community. A.P. Stump’s is now shuttered.” Her advice: If you like a restaurant, “go now and help them survive.”

List grows as deadline approaches

The list of participating restaurants increases by the day. Among the new joiners: Palo Alto’s Reposado, Los Altos’ Zitune, the Yankee Pier on Santana Row, James Randall and Crimson in Los Gatos and the new Maceio Brazilian Steak House in Downtown San Jose. And we just got word that Redwood City’s Red Lantern will be participating as well.

The early registration deadline for restaurants is Monday, August 10. Restaurateurs who want to contact us can communicate through the form on our contact page.

Embarcadero Joins as Media Sponsor
